Leonard Herrell Palmer, 87, of Tacoma, peacefully passed away on January 8th, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Leonard was born on January 31st, 1938, to Carson Leonard Palmer and Fern Della Herrell. After graduating from Franklin Pierce High School in 1957, Leonard served in the Coast Guard in 1960 for 2 years and later became a Butcher for Safeway for many years from which he retired.
Leonard was a very passionate hunter and had a strong love for the outdoors with his family. He visited his special place near Mt. Rainier as often as he could to enjoy being close to nature. Leonard was married to his wife Ruby and survived her passing. He had a love for dogs, especially his little dog, Katie.
Leonard is survived by his 2 children, Tammy Jean Whitnall and Lenny Dean Palmer. Leonard had 5 sisters, Corene, Della, Betty, Jeraldine, and Darlene. He also had 1 brother, David. He is survived by 1 of his sisters, Corene and is also survived by his grandchildren and great children.
Services will be held at his home on Saturday January 31st, 2026, at 2pm, which is also his birthday. Located at 14710 25th Ave. E. Tacoma, WA 98445.
