It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Sanders, Jr., who departed this life on January 20, 2026, in Macon, Georgia. Born on February 4, 1924, in Macon, Mississippi, George exemplified a life of service, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.

George was a proud veteran, having been drafted into the United States Army, where he served honorably. Following his military service, he joined the workforce at Henry Ford before realizing his entrepreneurial dreams. He founded his own transmission shop on 17th Street, where his work ethic and dedication made him a respected figure in the automotive community.

He was an active member of Carter CME Church in Detroit, Michigan, where he diligently served as an usher and trustee and lent his voice to the Men's Choir. George was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and curiosity about the world around him. He touched the lives of many through his steadfast presence and positive spirit.

George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Willie Lee Triplett Sanders, Sr.; his beloved wife, Juliette McConnell Sanders; and his son, Phillip Sanders. He leaves behind a legacy carried on by his surviving family, including his sisters: Gretta Gardener and Willie Dell Sanders, He was particularly proud of his son-nephew, Kenny Sanders, who was raised by George and Juliette, and his Godchildren: Rodney Williams, Earl Metcalf, Speed Miller, and Norman Hurst, Tracy Holloway, in addition, he is survived by his cherished nieces and nephews, Gretta Sanders, Brandy Gardener, Nicole Brooks, Donta' (Ina) Sanders, Rodney (Crystal) Williams,  as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends and relatives.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate George's remarkable life during the visitation on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place

Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, followed by burial with military honors at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 PM.

George Sanders, Jr. lived a life rich in love, service, and resilience. His memory will endure in the hearts of all who met him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who follow. May he rest in eternal peace.
