Cheri Diane Lewis Freeman, 77, of Georgetown, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on January 26, 2026, surrounded by love. She was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on July 29, 1948.
Cheri was a proud graduate of Bryan Station High School, Class of 1966, and cherished her classmates deeply. She later attended the University of Kentucky.
Cheri had a deep love for cooking and spent many years catering for others, something she did with joy and generosity. Whether feeding a crowd or cooking for family, her kitchen was always a place of warmth, laughter, and love.
Cheri was a member of NorthEast Christian Church for many years and was blessed with many dear friends whom she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Lewis and June Lewis Sullivan; her beloved husband, Roger Joe Freeman; and her cherished companion, Izzy B.
Cheri is survived by her daughters Paige (Greg) Gilkerson of Georgetown and Brittany (Dave) McDaniel of Frankfort; her grandchildren Allie (Tyler) Stone, Bailey Gilkerson (Michael Charles), Hunter Burus, Hope Burus (Brady Doan), and Holly Burus (Andrew Maupin); her great-grandchildren Dani Stone, Dawson Stone, Merrick Stone, Baylor Doan, Oaklyn Maupin, and Lorenzo Maupin; and her sisters Marilyn Lilley and Anita Alford.
Above all else, Cheri loved her family. She was a devoted mother and a beloved Grammy, Mimi, and Gogo, roles she embraced with joy, humor, and endless love. Her strength, kindness, and faith left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
Cheri will be remembered for her courage, her unwavering love for her family, and the many friendships that enriched her life. Her legacy lives on in the generations she loved so well.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Details will be shared at a later date.
