Shirley M. Davenpeck. 88, of Johnstown, NY, passed away January 18, 2026, at Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown. She was born in Perth, NY, on July 26, 1937, to the late John and Hazel (Kinnin) Hemstreet. On October 8, 1960, she married Gary C. Davenpeck. The union lasted until his passing on September 16, 2014.
Shirley loved her hobby farm, caring for her cows and chickens. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, and birdwatching. She was of the Methodist faith and belonged to the Foothills United Methodist Church in Gloversville, NY.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Young (Peter), Kathy Davenpeck, and Kelly Davenpeck (Ruth Black); six grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew, Zachary, Erin, Emily, and Linda; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Shirley is predeceased by her beloved husband Gary and siblings Marion Hemstreet, Dorothy Miller, Norma Belden, Harold Hemstreet, and Mildred Bramer.
A graveside service for urn burial will be held in the spring at the Perth cemetery in Perth, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home.
