Dolores Eugenia Graeber-Shute, of Sewell and Cape May, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at 84, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Springfield, Pennsylvania, Dolores was the daughter of the late Eugene and Marie Graeber. She was raised alongside her younger brother, Eugene “Sonny” Graeber, who predeceased her.
Dolores was a graduate of Merion Mercy Academy (Class of 1959) and St. Joseph’s University (Class of 1964). She began her career as an English teacher, where her love of literature and learning left a lasting impression on her students.
She met her beloved husband, Arthur J. Shute, at the Jersey Shore, and they were married in 1964. Together, they shared more than 60 years of marriage rooted in faith, mutual respect, and devotion to family.
Dolores is survived by her husband, Arthur; her three sons, Michael (Patrice), Jeffrey, and Stephen (Susan); seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and her love, encouragement, and steadfast support shaped generations to come.
In addition to raising her family, Dolores spent many years as a substitute teacher, touching countless lives through her kindness and intellect. She cherished reading, meaningful conversation, travel, and summers spent in Cape May with her family.
A Catholic Mass celebrating Dolores' life will be held on February 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Family, 226 Hurffville Road, Sewell, NJ 08080.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolores’ memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PO Box 4594, New York, NY 10163-4594, or through the National MS Society Donation page at Ways to Give: MS Donations & Fundraising | National MS Society
