Janita Sue Mayes-Milstead, born on February 15, 1966, in East Point, Georgia, passed away peacefully in Warner Robins, Georgia. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, celebrated for her kind spirit and unwavering love for her family.
Janita is survived by her devoted spouse of 27 years, Greg Milstead, and her beloved sons, Dustin Mayes and Daniel Mayes (Devan). She also leaves behind her siblings: Ara Nesmith (Dwayne), LaBriska Lee (Daryl) , Robin Kelley, Sheila Christian, Nathan Mayes (Debbie), Ray Mayes, Matthew Mayes, and Tony Caldwell, as well as four adoring grandchildren – Baylee, Jordan, Taylor, and Daniel Mayes. In addition to her immediate family, Janita is survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Mayes (Martha) and Reba Sue Smith Mayes, and siblings Terry Mayes, Melvin Mayes, Janice Mayes, and Sandra Elliott and Ramona Jones.
A proud homemaker, Janita devoted her life to creating a warm and loving environment for her family. She found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was enjoying the serenity of the mountains or basking in the sun on a beach. Her kindness touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her loved ones.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 1:00PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of Janita’s life at the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:00 PM. In this time of loss, let us remember Janita's gentle spirit and nurture her legacy of love and kindness.
