Sharon Lynn Weddington Little, 78, of Lexington and formerly of Pikeville, and loving wife of Edwin P. Little, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. She was under hospice care at UK’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. She was born to the late Arnold Weddington and Bernice Pernu Weddington on March 23, 1947 in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was a Christian and a long-time member of North Lexington Church of Christ.
In addition to her dedicated husband of 59 years, Sharon is survived by their daughters, Edwina (Keith) Slone and Shara Little Thacker; her siblings, Fred (Deborah) Weddington, Delores Preston, and Lee (Linda) Weddington; her 7 grandchildren: Caden, Darian, Easton, Adyson, Keaton, Ava, and Gage; her dear sister-in-law Brenda Salyer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sharon was a graduate of Virgie High School, Class of 1965. She enjoyed her high school and was very proud of her time there as a majorette. She earned her B.S. in education from Pikeville College and her master’s in education from Morehead State University. She was certified to teach at the K through 8 levels and had a successful career in Pike County teaching second grade. Sharon taught for many years at Millard Grade School and John’s Creek Elementary School. She and Edwin moved to Lexington in 2005.
Sharon loved to read and was a life-long learner. She encouraged education and learners in all areas of life, even while on vacation with her family. Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening.
Her services will take place at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing. The visitation will be held on Monday, February 2nd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday’s funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m., with a visitation prior beginning at 12:00 p.m. Her burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing, 601 East Brannon Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356.
Her pallbearers will be Caden Thacker, Adyson Thacker, Easton Slone, Keaton Slone, Keith Slone, Fred Weddington, and Lee Weddington.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/).
