In Loving Memory of Everyone's Hero -- John Edward Wynton, III

John Edward Wynton, III was born in Oakland, California on December 9, 1960. He passed away in Oregon City, Oregon on December 22, 2025.

John Wynton, III is survived by his 2 sons: Braxton (35)  and Reese (33); and his grandsons (via Braxton) Zeke (15) and Andre (12). He is also survived by his partner in life, Nicola Turnville. John is preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey (Irv), and his father John Edward Wynton II, lovingly remembered as Jack.

Growing up his sons remember lots of great memories made when they were kids. Going away for vacation and coming home to find a swimming pool in the backyard! Braxton: “Like a real pool in the ground!” They had tons of great days at that house and in the pool. John would hold floaties and let his sons and their friends take turns trying to tackle him. John was always up for going to the park and playing a baseball game or football game with his boys and their friends. They especially loved going on long bike rides and exploring different places along the way and nearby cities they would bike to.

John, Braxton and Reese also had lots of memorable vacations. John was a real estate guy and would travel a lot and many times take his boys with him. They visited Arizona, Florida, and Lake Tahoe many times. Most recently they went to Las Vegas, NV and enjoyed some of the highest end restaurants with VIP tables and treatment like front row seats at shows. Braxton especially remembers the David Copperfield Show in Vegas, where he and the group laughed so hard as John did whatever he could to make sure David Coperfield did not call him up to participate in the show.

Braxton described John as his hero, the man he always looked up to. Braxton goes further to say, “He was so cool and always did whatever he wanted with no fear. He was extremely smart and knowledgeable in everything. Always reading books and working out every day. He was so funny and always got a laugh anytime we were around him.”

John was famous for his “Wynton Classic”, a tortilla-wrapped hotdog and cheese. He also made the best Nachos and loved a good margarita. Mexican cuisine was his favorite and often would be the birthday celebration dinner choice. He had a wide range of music he listened to, Audioslave, Pink Floyd, Eminem, the Beatles, Deftones, he would listen to music daily and go on long walks with his earbuds in, listening to music.

John and Nicola also loved the Rolling Stones and Oasis. One song Nicola knows he loved was Joni Mitchell’s "Both Sides Now". John also loved watches and collected them, and he enjoyed his Mercedes G-Wagon and Porsche. He and Nicola would spend time together in their garden, growing their own vegetables and flowers. Their favorite place for a holiday was beautiful Santa Barbara, California.

Johnny as he was called affectionately, also gave so much to charity and he would always give money to the homeless and any of my friends in need. If you were in need and John knew it, you always got his help. He was such a kind and generous man. John left home at 16 and became extremely successful in commercial real estate and became very well-known. He was routinely and consistently head-hunted all the time for his amazing intellect and abilities.

John loved being successful and what he did for and meant to the people he interacted with and grew to know along the way. His hobby was probably also his work because in working he was able to help people and meet people. Meeting and helping people always brought great joy to him. John also loved music, sports, cars, watches, and family.

John Edward Wynton, III truly was "everyone’s hero"! He was the “go-to guy” for everything, an incredible problem solver, he could fix anything! Worked many places and had many friends. His closest friend, however, was Geoffery, and they were inseparable. He loved his time in Asia with his dear friend Geoffrey, especially the Great wall of China.

He also loved the Great Wall of China as there were lots of cats there. John definitely loved all animals but probably preferred his and Nicola’s cats especially “his Cowie”. Over their 19yrs together he and Nicola adopted countless animals, dogs, cats, rabbits. However, he left the raccoons and skunks in the garden for Nicola to handle … she claims, “He was scared of them waiting at the back door!”

John Edward Wynton, III will be mourned and missed by so many people he left behind. He will be remembered and loved by them all and many more of the lives he touched by just being the amazing, regular, successful and heroic man he naturally was.
