Jerald K. Dye, 73, of Stanton, Kentucky, formerly of Washington Court House, Ohio, passed away on January 25, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, with his beloved daughter Mindi by his side, holding his hand. Severe weather prevented the rest of his immediate family from reaching him in time, a heartbreak they will carry with them always.

Jerry was born on April 22, 1952, to Leona Jones Dye and Melvin Douglas Dye.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley Mae Booth; his daughters Mindi (Scott) Edwards of Clay City, Terri Dye of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Kelly (Todd) Morris of Ewing, Kentucky; and his grandchildren Jacob (Rachel) Caudill, Dylan (Brittney) Watson, Jesica Watson, Taylor Watson, Lori (Jeremiah) Moyers, Bobby Fulton, Cody Lewis, and Adora Lewis. He is also survived by eleven great‑grandchildren.

Jerry leaves behind to mourn his death his brothers Michael (Mary) Dye of Washington Court House, Ohio; Steve Dye of Ewing, Kentucky; Ronnie Dye of Phoenix, Arizona; and his sister Diane (Milton) Cowell of Prescott Valley, Arizona. He is also survived by his special brother‑in‑law, Archie Arrington, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews who adored him deeply. Along with brother in law Richard (Diane) Booth on his wife Shirley’s side.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Jones Worley; his father, Melvin Douglas Dye; his son‑in‑law, Chad Lewis, whom he loved like a son; and his sisters, Lisa Dye and Jackey Dye Arrington.

Jerry loved life with a fullness that was impossible to miss. He was the life of every gathering and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family. He remained active in sports well into his fifties and especially loved playing softball with his brothers, nieces, and nephews in Ohio.

One of his greatest joys was listening to his daughters sing. Nothing made him prouder. As his family lovingly jokes, “A catastrophic tornado could have ripped through whatever town he was living in, and if reporters asked him about it, he’d say, ‘It was pandelerium… but have you heard her sing?’”

Jerry will be missed forever by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of his life will be held on February 12, 2026, from 2:00–8:00 p.m. in the Fleming‑Mason RECC Great Room.
