**Obituary for Kevin Patrick James Sr.**

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Kevin Patrick James Sr., aged 79, on January 26, 2026, in Olympia, Washington. Born on July 17, 1946, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Kevin led a life enriched by service, dedication, and love for his family and community.

Kevin was a proud Vietnam-era veteran, having served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1971 at McChord AFB in Washington and Lockbourne AFB in Ohio. His commitment to duty continued long after his military service as he retired as a computer technician and dedicated his time to being a volunteer officer with the Grays Harbor County Sheriffs Office, The  Aberdeen Police Department and the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

On April 2, 1966, Kevin married the love of his life, Kathy May White, in Aberdeen, Washington, embarking on a journey filled with love and companionship. Together, they nurtured a family, welcoming son, Kevin Patrick Jr and their daughter, Kelly Ann, and He was a devoted family man, fiercely protective of his loved ones, and cherished by his wife, children, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his familial connections, Kevin had a passion for leisure as an avid golfer and an outstanding bowler. He was known for his precision in pool playing and relished every opportunity to fish and hunt. His zest for life extended beyond sports; Kevin was an active member of several organizations, including the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, and the Grays Harbor USBC.

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; son, Kevin Jr., daughter, Kelly;  and sister, Sandra Cecil. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Caroline (Jicha) James, as well as his brother, Dr. Fred James, and sister, Caroline Whitley.

A memorial celebration of Kevin's life will be held on February 7, 2026, beginning at 3:00 PM at Columbian Hall, located at 6794 Marin Way E, Olympia, WA 98516.

As we remember Kevin Patrick James, we honor a life well-lived, marked by feats of courage, unwavering dedication, and enduring love for family and friends. He will be missed but deeply cherished in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
