Lois May Dixon (Taylor), 94, of Lexington, Kentucky went home to her heavenly father on January 23, 2026. She was born in Gilmer, Texas, on November 10, 1931 to Redwood and Myrtle Taylor, living there for 8 years. Lois was a proud Kentuckian, growing up in Boyd County and graduated from Boyd County High School in 1950. She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1955 with a degree in education. During her time at UK, she attended every home basketball game to cheer on her beloved Wildcats during the Adolph Rupp era. Lois was also proud of her selection as a IFEY cultural exchange program student representing the University, the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the United States for nine months in Ireland.
She met the love of her life, Mack Dixon at the University of Kentucky and was a devoted wife for over 40 years. A dedicated educator, Lois taught public school in Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa and Illinois, spanning 30 years. After retiring from the Chicagoland area they moved back to Lexington (1994). They were welcomed into Southern Hills United Methodist where she joined the Ladies Only Vocal Ensemble “LOVE”. Lois enjoyed years of volunteering in The Medical Staff Office at Central Baptist Hospital. She was past President of the Blue Grass Home Economists and was involved in numerous national and civic organizations.
Together Lois and Mack raised 2 children, Cynthia (Robert) Day of Lexington, and Patrick (Jane) Dixon of Niles, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband. In addition to her children, she leaves behind 4 beloved grandchildren, Lauren Dixon of Berea, Kentucky, Christopher Dixon of Westfield, Indiana, Audrey Dixon of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Katherine Dixon of Niles, Michigan.
