Martin (“Marty”) Andrew Singleton passed away in Aurora, Colorado on January 22, 2026. Marty was born on October 20, 1967, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to parents J.D. Singleton and Anna Marie Singleton Nightengale. Marty graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma with a degree in forest management.

In the early 1990’s Marty moved to Washington State to be close to the water and mountains. Marty was employed at Red Robin and Kelly Moore before attending South Puget Sound Community College and obtaining his paralegal certificate.

In 1997 Marty joined the Torts Division of the Attorney General’s Office as a paralegal. In 2004 he moved to the Information Services Division of the Attorney General’s Office where he could combine his love of law and technology, eventually becoming the Deputy Chief Information Officer. Marty was known not only for his knowledge and skills in technology, but for his kindness, patience and support as a coworker, a mentor, and a friend. In 2017, Marty was awarded the Attorney General’s Office Steward of Justice Award. The award was created to recognize employees who make an extraordinary difference in the lives of others, both personally and professionally. Marty was recognized for his expertise, professionalism, commitment, and integrity.

While employed in the Torts Division, he met his future wife, Jenny. They were married on August 21, 2004, in Westminster Presbyterian Church in Olympia, Washington. Together they raised four children. Marty’s greatest joy in life was his family. He attended every sporting event, dance recital, theater performance, and school event. He loved traveling to see his family around the country, to spend time with his mom, his siblings, and their families.

Marty loved movies, traveling, sailing, being outdoors, technology, photography, and sports, especially golf. For more than seven years he had a standing weekly golf game with friends. Marty was always curious about the world around him and loved exploring and learning. He taught his children to stay curious about the world they live in, and they have carried that through their lives.

Marty was a loved and respected member of his community and family and will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a pillar of love and support for all.

He leaves behind his wife Jenny Singleton, sons Adam McIntosh and Chad McIntosh, daughters Megan McIntosh (Kyle) and Sophia Singleton, his mother Anna Marie

Nightengale, brother Jay Singleton (Diana), and sister Dee Anne Toby (Larry) and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his stepfather Louis Nightengale.

A service for Marty will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Funeral Alternatives of Tumwater, 455 North Street SE, Tumwater, Washington at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation (https://www.arborday.org).
