Ronald R Norton formally of Lodi/ Creston Oh passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, with family at his side at his current residence in St. Peterburg Florida.
He was born December 29, 1943, to John A and Mae (Reynolds) Norton in Lodi Oh. He graduated from Cloverleaf High School in 1961 and was active in the Cloverleaf FFA chapter. Following high school, he married his high school sweetheart Elaine M (Clemons) Norton, and they started a life together raising a family in Lodi. He had been a member of the Lodi Fire Department for over 20 years and was active in the local Boy Scout chapter and assisted coaching little league baseball.
Through the years he was employed by Springhill Greenhouse, Best Ready Mix and Medina County/Envision waste management, which he retired from in 2016. He was very proud of being a truck driver and never having had an accident or ticket.
Ron had a kind, gentle spirit with a smile and laugh that could brighten any room. He never met a stranger and could carry lengthy conversations with anyone. He was generous with his time for anyone in need and was always happy to help someone with a treasure that he had brought home from work. He loved gardening, yardwork, cutting firewood, fishing, and just being in nature. He appreciated history and enjoyed trips to historical sites. He loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed watching birds and other wildlife around his home and relaxing in front of a fire with his cats. He always held a very strong work ethic and enjoyed tinkering and working with his hands and being creative. He especially loved spending time with family and a good meal.
He is survived by his wife Elaine of 63 years, daughter Merry (Dan) Vasterling of St. Petersburg Fla., son Chris (Sandy) Norton of Burbank OH., his sister Evelyn Kindig, granddaughters Sydney, Hannah and Klairisa and nieces, nephews and sisters and brothers in law which were all deeply loved by him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Donna and Lois and his son Johnnie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to local animal shelters or historical societies.
