William R. “Bill” Hanke, Jr.  (February 26, 1948 - January 31, 2026), beloved husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2026, surrounded by his wife and family. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory in Warner Robins. A funeral will be held at his church of almost 50 years, Bible Baptist Temple, 2601 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins, GA on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Parkway Memorial Gardens.

Bill was known first and foremost for his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He lived his life anchored in Scripture, prayer, and obedience to the Lord. Whether through his words or his example, Bill faithfully pointed others to Christ and encouraged those around him to walk steadfastly with Him until He returns. Bill was also a proud United States Air Force veteran who honorably served his country during the Vietnam era. He carried a deep love, respect, and pride for his country up until his final day.  His commitment to duty, sacrifice, and integrity reflected the same values that shaped his faith, his family life, and the way he loved others. His service to his country remains a meaningful part of his legacy and will be remembered with gratitude and honor.

As a devoted family man, Bill deeply loved his family and took great joy in his role as husband, dad, and especially Grandpa. He was a source of wisdom, steady strength, crazy humor, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He loved life, found great delight in music, laughter, and corny humor that made him laugh until he cried. He had a gift for turning everyday conversations into either a song or a joke, and wherever he went, he brought that laughter and music with him. Those who knew him will remember his love for his wife, his warmth, his humor, his beautiful singing voice, and the way he made others feel welcome and at ease.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Myrtle Hanke; his sister, Barbara Berg; and son, Michael Hanke. Bill is survived by Susan, his wife of 52 and half years, children: Matthew (Tricia) Hanke, Rachel (Shannon) Epperson, Lydia (Sean) Tabb; grandchildren: Sarah, Ashley (Ryan), Samuel, Hannah (Thomas), Lisa, Shelby Grace, Stephen, Bree (Ben), Jessa, Jackson, Olivia, Seth, Brenden; one great grandson, Stetson; sister, Patricia (Gerald) Szekeres, former daughter in law, Raechel Blalock; along with a large circle of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family, all who were blessed by his life and testimony.

The family would like to sincerely thank Georgia Hospice Care for their dedication to Bill's care. While our hearts grieve his passing, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that Bill is now fully healed and rejoicing in the presence of his Savior. His faith has become sight.
