Robert Yarroll “Bob” Scott, 83, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at his home on January 22, 2026. Robert was born to Lawrence Joseph Scott and Edith Elizabeth “Cliz” Scott (Collett) on June 19, 1942, in Zion, Illinois. In a unique family coincidence, both he and his mother were delivered by the same midwife.

The son of a U.S. Marine, Robert was called “Gen” (short for General) by his immediate family members. As a teen, he was active in Boy Scouts of America, ultimately earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from El Cajon Valley High School in 1960, where he met his future wife, Louetta. He went on to attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, as well as San Diego State University.

Robert and family moved to Gallup, New Mexico in 1973, where he was active in the community and served on the Gallup Chamber of Commerce. Moving to Albuquerque in 1986, Robert was an avid golfer and chess player, serving as the President of the West Mesa Community Center Chess Club. He was also heavily involved in the Albuquerque chapter of the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors, as his mother was pregnant with him while stationed there with his father on December 7, 1941. His professional career included 15 years as a manager of Thrifty Drug stores and concluded with his retirement from Costco after 27 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Louetta Jean Scott (Woolley), sisters Bonnie Good (Scott) and Sandra Staufenbeil (Scott), daughter Kelley Blan (Scott) and son, Jeffrey Scott, niece Heather Amber Good and nephews Darren Kellogg, Christopher Simmons, and Kenneth and William Hayes. He had 3 grandchildren: Meagan and Kyle Jameson and Christopher Kline, and 6 great-grandchildren: Adrian and Delano Cruz-Lopez, Mikael Jameson, Rowan, Ezra and Ace Kline.

As Robert wished, there will be no formal services; his family invites those who knew him to remember him in their own meaningful way. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished by those whose lives he touched.
