Long time teacher and friend to everyone she met, Sue Keefe passed away peacefully on December 13 at Sandia Senior Suites.   She was born on April 2, 1937 in Gallup, New Mexico.  Later her mother, a single mom and public health nurse, packed up her two daughters and moved to Deming, NM.

Sue graduated from UNM in 1962 and then taught Social Studies for many years at Cleveland Junior High School, later middle school.  She married Dennis Keefe in college, establishing her connections to the arts.  Sue was an avid history buff, traveling throughout New Mexico on educational and winery tours.  She also kept her neighborhood organized and politically active.  Dennis died suddenly in 2008, so Sue immersed herself in classical music, volunteering for almost 15 years at Chatter.  After declining health she made her self-declared home at Sandia Senior Suites, making friends with many of the staff.

She is survived by her daughter, Kate.  In recent years two friends and devoted neighbors, Beverly Hill and Anne Acuff took on the management of Sue's affairs.
