Francis J. Seymour, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026 near his home in Satellite Beach, Florida. Fran was born on August 4, 1937 in Buffalo, New York where he graduated from Canisius High School and Canisius College. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1962, eventually being selected commissioning as an officer, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after 21 years of service. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Marion (Schwab) Seymour and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen (nee Dearing), his brother Lawrence (Donna) of Sarasota, Florida, and children Mary of Kansas City, Missouri, Fran (Patty) of Glen Arbor, Michigan, Kevin (Eileen) of Aurora, Colorado, Michael of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, Annie (Mark) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Brian (Allyson) of Castle Rock, Colorado as well as 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

During his military career, he excelled in multiple roles, from Combat Missile Crewman to Project Manager of the Space Shuttle Runway.  His Air Force career took him to varied duty stations including Arizona, Crete, England, Wyoming, Florida, New York, and Iceland.  Upon retirement he settled his family in Carroll County, Maryland while taking a new role with a civilian defense contractor near Baltimore. After retiring from that position in 1989, he joined the parish staff at St. Joseph's Catholic Community in Eldersburg, Maryland as the parish business manager, a role he greatly enjoyed as the parish grew substantially while he oversaw the construction of a new church.

Retiring for the final time in 2003, Fran and Kathy returned to Florida to enjoy ideal golf weather, close proximity to the beach, and frequent visits from kids and grandkids. He focused on his favorite hobbies, which were watching the Baltimore Orioles, playing golf, and tinkering with his beloved Lionel train sets.

Fran will be remembered for his devotion to family, passion for his faith, commitment to serving his country, generosity to others, and inclination to laughter. He set a wonderful example for his children to follow and left an indelible impression on those he met.  He will be greatly missed.

A private service will be held for immediate family, followed by a memorial service to be scheduled at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Buffalo later this year.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Satellite Beach Fire Department in Fran’s memory.
