Melanie Ann Anziano, born Melanie Ann McNamara, of Land O' Lakes, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Tampa, Florida at the age of 80. She was born on April 29, 1945, in New Haven, Connecticut, where she lived for 5 years, then moving to Garden City, New York in 1950. She was the second daughter and third child of Dr. William J. McNamara, originally from Fair Haven, Vermont, and Mary Francis McNamara (Bertolino), from Poultney, Vermont.
Melanie was predeceased by her siblings William J. McNamara, Jr., Maureen C. McKee (McNamara), and Dr. Michael T. McNamara.
She received her Secretarial Certificate from Claremont Secretarial School in Garden City, New York in 1964. She worked at Shearson, Hamill & Company and Suburbia Federal Savings, before getting a job as an Executive Assistant at European American Bank from 1975 to 1985.
She married Louis Peter Anziano, Jr. on June 27, 1964, and they had a son, Louis Peter Anziano, III, born January 13, 1966. Melanie and her son have lived together in Land O' Lakes, Florida since 1987 up until her death. Melanie was a devout and active parishioner at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Land O' Lakes, where she regularly attended mass and volunteered extensively. She is survived by her son.
Melanie will be fondly remembered for her warmth, grace, sincerity and devotion to faith and family. Never seeking the spotlight, she focused on family, keeping all well connected, informed, and tightly bonded together. Her brilliant insights and wry sense of humor, from casual nicknames to astute reflections on society, will forever endear her to her family, friends, and neighbors. Her passion was to support the faith and the Catholic Church, where she regularly volunteered for various ministries.
A Visitation service will be held at Loyless Funeral Home, 5310 Land O' Lakes Blvd., Land O' Lakes, Florida on Thursday evening, February 12 at 5pm, and a Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 2348 Collier Pkwy., Land O' Lakes, Florida on Friday, February 13, at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider having masses said for the repose of her soul at Our Lady of the Rosary.
She will be laid to rest at the St. Mary's Cemetery of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven, Vermont with her parents, paternal grandparents, her loving sister Maureen Collette McKee (McNamara), Maureen’s husband G. Raymond McKee, and other McNamara family relatives.
