John Charles Cattaneo, Jr., of West Melbourne, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at the age of 62. He was surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.
A man of deep devotion, John was a beloved husband to Andrea and a proud, guiding light to his sons, John (Jack) and Nicholas. His warmth extended to his "fur babies," April, Mae, and June, who brought him constant joy.
John was predeceased by his father, John Charles Cattaneo, Sr. His memory lives on through his mother, Mary Louise (Dodson) Cattaneo; his sisters, Stephanie (Cattaneo) Kinder (husband Rob) and JoAllyson (Cattaneo) Russell (husband Scott); and a large, cherished circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, John was an outdoorsman at heart. Whether he was surfing, fishing, or hunting, he found peace in nature. However, his greatest passion was his family; he dedicated himself to teaching and guiding his sons, passing down both practical skills and a strong moral compass.
Professionally, John was a pillar of the L3Harris community. Over the course of a distinguished 37-year career, he rose to the role of Chief Security Officer. He was respected not only for his leadership and expertise but for his quick wit and the jokes he loved to share, which lightened the days of all who knew and loved him. John was always the first to offer a helping hand, to friends and strangers alike.
