Vandaline (Vandy) Kaye (Fisher) Adkison
July 9, 1949 – February 12, 2026
of Mesa, Arizona passed away at the age of 76.
Vandaline was born on July 9, 1949, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Lawrence J. and G. Wahneta Fisher. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, and her parents, Lawrence and Wahneta. She is survived by her son, Scott (Daniele), and her daughter, Vandeline (Don); her sisters, Sheila (Gary) and Debbie (Roger); her brother, James (Darlene); and her grandchildren, Jason, Vandeline, Michele, Andrea, Nicholas, and Heather. She was deeply proud of her family and the lives they built.Vandy worked as an LPN, caring for others with strength and compassion. She also bred dachshunds and absolutely loved her animals, who were always a big part of her life and home.
A very crafty and creative soul, she enjoyed sewing, and reading. Some of her happiest times were spent with her best friend of over 50 years Terry Jean working on puzzles together and sharing laughter and conversation. Those who knew Vandy will remember her quick wit, strong will, and tough spirit. You never had to guess where she was coming from. Yet beneath that stubbornness, she was full of grace and remarkably free of judgment toward others. One of her favorite sayings was, “First rule of hole… when you get in one… stop digging,” a bit of her plainspoken wisdom that her family and friends will always cherish. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Whitestone Senior Living and to the amazing Azorna hospice team for the compassionate care and support they provided to Vandy and her loved ones. She was very much loved and will be missed greatly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
