Joan Carol DePuy, born Joan Currier on October 8, 1935, in New Orleans, Louisiana, danced her way through life with style and a generous heart until her peaceful passing on February 15, 2026, in Ocala, Florida. She was a loving mother and a vibrant soul who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Joan was known for her wit, intelligence, and incredible memory for names and places—an impressive gift that made her the life of every gathering.

Joan Currier married Nolie DePuy in 1955, and enjoyed a long, loving partnership for 64 years. They had three children, with whom they traveled all over the world and lived in several exotic locales. Many of her years were spent as a homemaker and mother, but as her children grew, she took on roles such as Executive Secretary for the Deputy Chief of Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, and dedicated tax preparer at Tax Savers from 1985 to 2010, where she helped countless individuals navigate the complexities of tax season. A curious spirit by nature, she had a passion for learning and exploration, which led her to earn an Associate of Science degree from Central Florida Community College, graduating with honors at the age of 56.

Beyond her professional contributions, Joan took pride in her hobbies and interests. She was an avid needlepointer and seamstress, whose creativity knew no bounds. Whether it was whipping up beautiful cross-stitch or challenging herself with puzzle games, she could always be found indulging her passions. She and Nolie loved to bowl, and had a lifelong passion for baseball.

Joan was especially close to her family, which includes her beloved children: Peggy Thierheimer, Thomas DePuy, and Laura Martin, as well as her sons-in-law, Jerry Thierheimer and Randy Martin. She poured love into her relationships and always had time to lend a helping hand, demonstrating her kindness and honesty in everything she did.

In her final hours, Joan was treated with great respect by the nurses at Grace Davis House, Hospice of Marion County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Marion County, an organization that Joan held in high regard, reflecting her own values of support and compassion toward others. As we remember Joan, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and infinite curiosity about the world around her. Rest in peace, Joan DePuy; your gregarious spirit will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
