Cindi Ann Swatling, age 59, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 30, 1966, in Buffalo, New York, to Walter and Marie (Fava) Slichta.
Cindi was known for her spicy personality, sharp wit, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her. Cooking for family and friends was her love language, and she found joy in bringing people together around the table. She cherished her morning coffee spent planning the day with her best friend and husband, Steve. Many mornings began with a familiar text to her daughter Lauren — “You up, precious?” — followed by messages that continued throughout the day, always filled with love, humor, and heartfelt advice.
She is survived by her loving husband, Steven Swatling; her daughter, Lauren Swatling (Tylor Jones) of Irmo, South Carolina; her sons, Ryan Pistner and Kyle Pistner, both of Buffalo, New York; her daughter-in-law, Jessie Smith Pistner; and her cherished grandchildren, Lilith Pistner and Harleigh Ann Jones. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Cheryl (Slichta) Scavarda, and brother-in-law Patrick Scavarda, along with her nieces, Jenna and Mariella Scavarda. She will be deeply missed by extended family members and many dear friends.
Cindi valued the friendships she built throughout her life. She enjoyed spending time with her work family and friends at Radius Global Solutions and with her dear friends at Southern Way Catering. Some of her happiest moments were spent relaxing in her yard, by her pool, or cheering on her beloved Buffalo Bills.
The family will gather to receive friends on Saturday, February 21, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn. A graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
