Heinn F. (Tom) Tomfohrde, III died on January 7, 2026 at 92 years old.
A native of New Jersey, Tom graduated from Cornell University in 1956 with a Masters of Chemical Engineering and a commission in the US Army. After his army commitment, he worked in the chemicals industry for 50 years, serving as a director of twelve chemical companies in addition to being the president and COO of two of those companies.
Tom was a member of the South Carolina Yacht Club, the Hilton Head Plantation Yacht Club, the Bear Creek Golf Club, and the Country Club of Hilton Head. He served as a director of Volunteers in Medicine.
Tom was pre-deceased his wife of 63 years, Judy. He is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, as well as his Life Partner of five years, Suzanne. Services are private for family only.
