Gilbert James Shepard, 95, passed away peacefully in his home on February 14, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Gilbert was born on June 1, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Gaylord E. Shepard (d. 1985) and Marie (Boyer) Shepard (d. 1999).
Mr. Shepard served as 2nd Lieutenant in the Wisconsin National Guard, 32nd Infantry, from 1947 to 1952.
Gilbert is proceeded in death by sisters Patricia (Shepard) Eckenrod (d. 2004) and Gayle (Shepard) Geis (d. 2003), wife Marvel (Hurley) Shepard (d. 2003) and late wife Renee Lemoing Sargent (2018).
He is survived by children John Gilbert Shepard, Susan Shepard-Kelly and Patricia CJ Meyer, all of Minnesota, as well as grandsons Sawyer, Harrison and Atticus, and granddaughters Whitney and Brandee.
Gilbert was blessed to have had so much time on this earth, and we are grateful for the abundance of love he gave and kindness received during his life. We pray that he is now reunited in heaven with those whom he loved, lost and has missed dearly throughout the years.
