It is with great sadness that the family of Robert A. “Bob” Caldo wishes to announce his passing, on February 19, 2026. He was born in Paterson NJ on January 21, 1942 to Anthony and Mary (Seergy) Caldo. Upon graduation from Don Bosco Boys High School in 1959, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served honorably until April 1962. He turned down an opportunity to re-enlist and go to Japan because he was due to be married to his high school sweetheart, and the love of his life, in July of that year. He joined the Clifton, NJ Fire Department where he served from 1968-1995, retiring as a Lieutenant. In 2010, he and his beloved Loretta sold their home in Oak Ridge, NJ, and set out for the open road in their RV, ultimately settling in Florida. Bob was not one to sit still. He was very active in his church and the Knights of Columbus. He served as VP of the Space Coast Woodcarvers Club for 16 years, and became quite a good woodcarver himself, donating proceeds from anything that he sold to the Honor Flight Network. He was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Southeast District, Flotilla 17-06 for more than a decade, which he loved doing. He had also been an avid hunter and fisherman, read voraciously, and liked tinkering in the garage.
He is survived by his two daughters, Marynora and Colleen Caldo, his brother John Caldo of Tucson AZ, many sisters and brothers in law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his darling Loretta J. (Fitzgerald) Caldo, and his brother James (Jimmy) Caldo.
Bob was a selfless person, always putting others before himself, and he was the anchor of his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral Mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne FL, 11 am March 10, 2026 followed by interment of his ashes in their Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Honor Flight Network, Ascension Social Concerns, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
