U.S. Marine Corps
Corporal
Robert I Metcalfe
July 4, 1947 – February 25, 2026
Robert joined the Marine Corps at a young age. He fulfilled three tours in Vietnam as Force Recon. He received two Purple Hearts and was a POW {from which he escaped}. The shrapnel and bullets he received while in Vietnam did not have his final name on them.
Throughout his life, the things that gave him the most joy were woodworking, horses, kids and being a professional clown. Professionally, he worked in the commercial construction industry as a Project Manager. During that time, he fell off a nine-story building and only broke his collar bone. Even that fall did not call his final name.
A heart attack, that took him to the ground, this, too, did not have his final name on it.
During a home invasion, he got shot three times in the abdomen.
Even those bullets did not have his name on them.
A battle with lung cancer did not call his final name.
The battle with kidney failure did not call his final name.
The final bullet had his name and Agent Orange on it. He passed from complications of Agent Orange in his sleep, at home.
Robert was a member of American Legion Post 110
