Gale Ruth Ann Ballance, 66, of West Columbia, SC passed away on March 4, 2026 at her home under the care of hospice. Gale was born in Hartsville, SC on April 26, 1959 to Gary Evans Carter, Jr. and Ruth D. Kirchner Carter.
Gale worked as a computer programmer at Colonial Life/UNAM until her retirement. Gale was a sun and beach lover. She always had a book in her hand.
A devoted and loving wife, Gale shared 33 wonderful years with her beloved husband, Steve Ballance. She was blessed with sisters, Janice Griffin, Linda Carter, and Christine (John) Bowers.
She was predeceased by her parents and in-laws, Roland Lee Ballance, Jr. and Kathryn Tanner Ballance.
Surviving are her aunts, Sondra Dyches, Deanna Henne, Diane (Irv) Sparrow, and Gail Carter, uncle, Ronnie Ballance and cousin, Charlie (Vivian) White. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Special helper to Gale was her cousin, Christi Tanner.
