Floyd Trujillo, Jr (Greg) of Arvada, CO, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026 surrounded by family. Up until death, he expressed gratitude for his long life, family and friends.
Greg was born on March 13, 1949 in Sterling, Colorado. He graduated from Iliff High School. He played several sports, earning All State Honors in Football. During high school he and his brother, Paul, lived with their grandmother. Greg formed close relationships with his aunts, uncles and cousins.
After high school, Greg volunteered to serve in the United States Army, and completed 2 tours in the Vietnam War, 1967 - 1970. Greg was Honorably discharged from the United States Army with a rank of Specialist E-4. He was awarded various service/campaign medals for his bravery and leadership.
After the war, Greg returned home, met and married Andrea Parga and started a family. They lived in Thornton, Colorado, before settling in Westminster, Colorado.Greg worked more than twenty five years as a machinist at Rocky Flats and the Department of Energy. During that time he also served as a Union Steward because he believed in fair and safe treatment of his co-workers.
Greg loved hunting with his brother, nephews, cousins and friends. He was an avid runner and competed in several Bolder Boulder 10K races. He kept his family busy with boating and camping trips. Soccer was an important part of his life, as he was a coach, a referee, and fan.
After retiring, Greg continued to enjoy hunting, fishing, road trips, and working out. He also took on the role of caretaker for his parents. After his parents passed away, his unselfish service continued as a companion and driver to disabled Veterans.
Greg was always providing for his family and continued until he passed away. He was always someone that his family, extended family, and friends could count on.Greg was known as someone with a strong work ethic and someone who cared for others. He had tremendous physical strength and fought hard to overcome his medical issues incurred at Rocky Flats. He fought equally as hard to overcome trauma from the Vietnam War. During his medical care, numerous nurses, physical therapists, and other patients commented on how enjoyable he was to be around.
Greg was proud to be part of raising two children and leaving a legacy of five grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and ex-spouse. He is survived by his son, Leonard Trujillo and daughter, Clarissa Kennedy as well as five grandchildren, Kaylee (27), CJ (25), Corey (24), Lavi (20) and Ronen (18). There are numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and many friends who will miss him dearly,A funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena at 4200 Federal Boulevard, Denver CO, 80211 at 10 am on Friday March 20, 2026. Reception to follow.Interment with military honors will be held at Ft Logan National Cemetery at 4400 W Kenyon Avenue, Denver, CO 80236, followed by a remembrance gathering (location undetermined), will be held at a later date.
