Mr. Toney N. Bowers, of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Mr. Bowers was born in Newberry, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Roy Bowers and Mrs. Laura Nichols Bowers. He attended Silverstreet High School in Silverstreet, South Carolina. At a young age, he answered the call to serve both his state and country as a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard, where he proudly served from 1960 until 1967.
Following his military service, Mr. Bowers built a career as a machinist with Cooper Air Tools, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft. Outside of work, he found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a devoted fan of the Clemson Tigers and loved following all things related to Clemson athletics. He also enjoyed spending time in Myrtle Beach, tending to his garden, and socializing with friends at VFW Post 6740 in Leesville, South Carolina.
Above all, Mr. Bowers treasured his family. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Janice Taylor Bowers; his son, Chris (Vicki) Bowers; and his beloved grandchildren, Javon Bobo, Elainey Bobo, Eli Bowers, and India Bowers. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy Mullins, along with several nieces and nephews who will continue to honor and remember his life. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Bowers and daughter, Stephanie Bobo.
Mr. Bowers will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his love for his family, and the joy he found in the people and places he loved. Especially his beloved Clemson Tigers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11AM at St. David's Lutheran Church in West Columbia with a visitation 1 hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Post 6740 in Leesville, South Carolina, in honor of Mr. Bowers’ life and service.
