Harry P. Rushton Jr., 66, of Denver, CO, formerly of Rahway, NJ, passed away on March 5, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on April 13, 1959, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Harry "Dink" P. Rushton Sr. and Catherine “Sissy” (Reilly) Rushton.
Harry was a proud member of the Millwright Local 715 Carpenter’s Union for 35½ years, retiring in April 2021. He recently worked with Davaco (TX), traveling throughout the country as a carpenter for 27 years, retiring in late 2025. Harry was highly skilled in his trade and took great pride in his workmanship. He built an amazing and fulfilling career in carpentry.
Harry was an avid fan of the LV Raiders, NY Knicks, and NY Mets. He enjoyed a wide variety of music and loved attending concerts, even while traveling for work. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, creating memories filled with laughter. Harry was an amazing son, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather.
Harry is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline (Greg) Kavanagh of Nazareth, PA; his son, Nicholas (Tess) Rushton of Denver, CO; four siblings, Patricia Rushton of Rahway, NJ, Theresa (David) Brusco of Parrish, FL, Frank Rushton of Rahway, NJ, and Brandy Rushton of Rahway, NJ; five grandchildren, Alexis Rushton of Woodbridge, NJ, Allysse Kavanagh of Nazareth, PA, Jayden Minnich of Lebanon, PA, Niko Rushton of Nazareth, PA, and Fionn Rushton of Denver, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harry was also predeceased by three siblings, William Rushton, Ann Rushton Miranda, and James Rushton; and two children, Harry P. Rushton III and Donald Rushton.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Harry’s life on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the American Legion, 581 Maple Ave., Rahway, NJ 07065. Attire is casual, and we encourage everyone to wear a tie-dye shirt in good old Harry fashion. Tie-dye shirts will be available for anyone who doesn’t have one. If you would like to tie-dye your own shirt, please bring a plain white T-shirt — there will also be a tie-dye station.
