Viera, FL – Gino Milanese passed away on March 16, 2026, in Viera, Florida. He was cared for with compassion by the dedicated staff at Viera Hospital, whose kindness and support meant so much during his final days. Even then, Gino continued to connect with those around him, leaving a lasting impression on the people who had the privilege of caring for him. In one quiet moment, a nurse who spent time with him during a restless night later shared how deeply moved she was by his warmth and presence something that stayed with her long after.
Gino was born on April 12, 1947, in Rendinara, Italy, and came to the United States with his family as a young child. He grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1966. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart, Lorraine, whom he married on September 23, 1967. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, faith, and shared experiences, remaining devoted partners through decades of change, growth, and adventure until her passing in 2019, a loss that deeply affected him. She affectionately called him “G,” a simple nickname that reflected the deep love and closeness they shared throughout their lives.
Though his life and career took him across the country and around the world, Gino never lost his connection to his roots. He remained deeply tied to his family and community in Rendinara, Italy, and returned as often as he could. Sometimes with Lorraine, sometimes with family, and sometimes on his own. Always making it a priority to stay connected to where his story began. His love for his hometown remained strong throughout his life, and he honored that bond by dedicating a bench there in memory of his parents, Vincenzo and Marie Milanese. In Rendinara, he and his family were never simply visitors; they remained part of the community, and he embraced that connection wholeheartedly.
Gino built a remarkable career defined not only by success, but by the way he treated people along the way. He began his professional journey with humble beginnings, eventually joining General Electric Financial Services as a door-to-door collector. Over the course of 35 years, he rose through the ranks to become a Global Strategies Manager, working both nationally and internationally. His career took him across five states and through eleven moves, yet no matter where life led, he always remained closely connected to family and friends.
After his time with GE, Gino continued his work in leadership roles, serving as a Senior Vice President of Operations for Washington Mutual and later as Chief Operating Officer for AGI, an international insurance company overseeing Latin America, South America, and Europe. He fully retired in 2013.
Gino was known as a leader who put people first. He believed in building others up rather than tearing systems down, and he earned the respect and loyalty of colleagues around the world. To many, he was not only a leader, but a mentor and a friend.
At his core, Gino was a man of deep integrity, guided by honesty, faith, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He was proud of his Italian roots and equally proud to call the United States his home. His faith, formed early in life and carried with him always, remained an important part of who he was.
He believed that challenges were not reasons to stop, but opportunities to find another way forward, a mindset he instilled in his children and carried throughout his life.
Gino found great joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. He loved to cook, especially alongside his beloved Lorraine, where the two moved together in the kitchen with a natural rhythm that felt almost effortless, like two artists working in perfect harmony. He shared that love by passing down not only recipes, but time, laughter, and connection.
Music was another constant in his life. Whether singing, humming, or performing as part of a church choir, Gino expressed himself through music and carried that joy with him wherever he went. He had an appreciation for all kinds of music and found happiness in the sounds that brought people together.
He also had a deep love for travel and experiencing the world. Through his career and later in life, he embraced opportunities to explore new places, often alongside Lorraine, and later continued that sense of discovery in the years that followed. He approached the world with curiosity, gratitude, and a genuine appreciation for the experiences life offered.
More than anything, Gino had a gift for connecting with people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, listen with genuine interest, and make others feel seen and valued. Whether among neighbors, colleagues, friends, or even those he had just met, he left a lasting impression through kindness, respect, and authenticity.
Gino is survived by his sons, Christopher Milanese and wife Jeanette, along with Cordelia, their daughter; and Steven Milanese and wife Jill; his grandchildren Adriana, Derek, Alicia, Gino, Conor, Lacey, and Vincenzo; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Anna, his brother Santino, and his brother Antonio, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He also shared a meaningful chapter later in life with Ann Marie Murray, whose companionship, love, and unwavering support brought him comfort and renewed strength. She stood by him through his most difficult moments, not only as a source of care, but as a true partner in his life during that time. Her presence brought light, stability, and connection when he needed it most. His family is deeply grateful for the love and care she gave him and considers her a cherished part of their family.
