Catharine "Kitty" L Burris, 100, passed away Mar14, 2026 in her home at the Masonic Home of Florida.
A memorial service will be held March 26 at 1:00pm at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201Dr MLK JR Street N.
The interment will be at 1:30pm at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
Kitty was born on Oct 7,1925, in Martin's Ferry, Ohio. She and her husband, Bob, met on a blind date when they were students at Mt Union College in Alliance, Ohio.
Six months later, they were married. They lived in Canton, Ohio until 1963, when their family of five moved to St Petersburg, Florida.
Kitty was a beloved teacher at Westminster Day School for 23 years. After retiring, she embarked on a hobby of caning chairs and repairing wicker furniture. This hobby blossomed into a home-based business.
Many years later, she began babysitting for several families in her neighborhood. A mutual love grew from those relationships. It is bond of love that transcends time.
Kitty was predeceased by her husband, Robert Clinton Burris, and her son, Bruce Allan Burris.
She is survived by daughters Beverly Burris Thorman, Barbara Burris Goebel, and grandsons Christopher E. Burris and James A. Goebel, jr., as well several cousins and two nephews.
