Ismael Torres

The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday in Santa Cruz for Ismael Torres who died in a vehicle crash in New Mexico on December 15, 2012. He and his family had been driving to Mexico for the holidays. Ismael would have celebrated his 12th birthday on December 22. Born in Santa Cruz, he attended Bay View Elementary School and was currently a student at Mission Hill Jr. High. Ismael loved to play soccer and enjoyed the outdoors very much. He also loved to swim, and leaves many close friends and teammates who will miss him. His family recalled his talent at mathematics and how he excelled in that subject. He is survived by his father, Rosalio Torres, his twin brother, Enrique Torres, his older brother, Christian Torres, and his sister, Yareth Torres all who reside in Santa Cruz. Ismael also leaves many loving aunts, uncles, and loving extended family members. The Mass will be on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church (126 High Street) in Santa Cruz beginning at 1 p.m. The burial service will immediately follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum (2271 7th Ave.) in Santa Cruz. He will be laid to rest beside his mother, Olivia Torres, who died in 2000. A special fund has been established for Ismael's family who were injured in the accident.
