Nadine Marie Giovannoni Murphy

Nadine Murphy passed away peacefully at Dominican Hospital on January 2, 2018 surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband, Jim Murphy, her daughters, Lisa and Jennifer Giles, granddaughters, Chelsey Emia and Julia Granick. She is also survived by her aunt, Lena Castiglioni, sister, Edie Dahlberg and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Nadine was born at Santa Cruz County Hospital on May 19, 1942 to Guido and Virginia Giovannoni. She spent her early years in Davenport until her family moved to Santa Cruz in 1953. She graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1960 and went to work for Salinas Valley Savings and Loan. She spent 38 years working in the banking industry and retired in 1996 from Great Western Bank. Nadine's greatest joy was creating memories with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She spent her retirement doing the things she loved most, cooking, baking, entertaining, gardening, and memorable vacations with family and friends. She will always be remembered for her selfless giving nature and her dedication to family. The tapestry of her life was filled with rich bold colorful experiences. She leaves a legacy that touched many hearts and will continue to live on as a shining example of a life well lived. There will be a viewing on Thursday January 11, 2018 from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Garden Chapel located at 1050 Cayuga Street Santa Cruz, California. Services will be held on Friday January 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at the same location. A reception will follow at Holy Cross Hall located at 170 High Street Santa Cruz, California. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. Nadine's favorite charities were the SPCA and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
