Randolph Britt, II passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Born January 18, 1955 in Charleston, South Carolina, he was preceded in death by his father, U.S. Navy Commander Randolph Britt and his twin sisters, Elizabeth Anne and Barbara Jean. Randy is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Shields Britt of Charlottesville, Virginia; daughter, Chelsea Erin Britt of Marina Del Rey, Calif.; son. Bernard Colby Britt of Jacksonville, Florida; and cousin, Jacqueline Britt of Raleigh, North Carolina. Randy graduated with a B.A. degree in Biology from the University of Virginia before settling in Chico where he has lived for the past 23 years. Randy was known for the amazing vegetables and stone fruits he farmed in Durham and sold at the Saturday Farmer's Market in Chico. Sometimes referred to as "Mr. Sweet Basil" and the "Tomato King", Randy found great joy selling the fruits of his labor to his appreciative customers and friends. Panforte Company was Randy's most recent passion and business venture. He created his own recipe for this scrumptious, gourmet apricot almond loaf that has been in high demand. Randy loved the outdoors. A man of many interests, he loved to ski, kayak, bike, sail, fish, hunt, and backpack. He also enjoyed playing basketball, cooking, reading, traveling, meteorology, and spending time with family and friends. He also shared many wonderful times with his companion, Terri Ridenour over the years. Randy's smiling presence at the Farmer's Market was always a bright spot. His enthusiasm, generosity, and passion for life will surely be missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, NOLS, National Outdoor Leadership School, or a charity of your choice. A memorial celebration of Randy's life will take place on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. near Randy's farm at Stanford Oaks, 9345 Stanford Lane in Durham, California 95938.
