Edith Mae Oakes, 94, of Marysville, passed away July 22, 2017. Born April 5, 1923 in Nebraska, she was a homemaker and a Yuba Sutter resident for 54 years. Edith is survived by her sister Barbara (Dennis) Earl of Gridley; daughter Marsha Biggs of Loma Rica; son Tom (Chris) Oakes of Marysville; son Jim (Paula) Oakes of Marysville; grandson Neil (Shelli) Stinson of Arboga; granddaughter Dayna (Keith) Buttacavoli of Plumas Lake; grandson Tommy (Melanie) Oakes of Yuba City; grandson Joey (Misty) Biggs of California City; grandson Jonathan Oakes of Marysville; granddaughter Erin (Scott) Rounds of Plumas Lake; granddaughter Kathy (Rick) Haddix of Culbertson, NE; granddaughter Kelly (Ryan) McNally of Plumas Lake; granddaughter Melissa (Amanda) Oakes of San Jose; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her husband James Thomas Oakes, Jr.; parents Rufus and Beulah Tibbs; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at Peoria Cemetery, Browns Valley, with Pastor Wayne Vincent, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
