Patsy (Patricia) Ruth Ryan Boudreau, passed away peacefully on September 30th, 2017 after a long , happy and productive life. Pat was the beautiful daughter of Frances and Thomas Ryan of Point Loma and eldest sister to Barbara Sherman, Annabelle Lloyd and Geraldine Wagner (deceased). Pat was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, friend, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. Maurice and Patricia had 7 children; Joan Boudreau Mulvaney Miller, Steven Maurice Boudreau, Mark Vincent Boudreau (deceased), Paul Thomas Boudreau, Nancy Boudreau Passmore, Gail Boudreau Rugee and Ellen Boudreau Stanley. Patricia had 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, with one more to come in a few weeks. Patricia was educated at Point Loma High School and attended San Diego Teacher’s College, now San Diego State University. Pat was a civilian employee at Fleet Headquarters at the foot of Broadway during the war years. While there, Pat met a handsome Navy pilot; Maurice “Red” Boudreau. Mom and her co-worker kept moving their new boyfriends to the back of the SHIP OUT list to keep them in town. Pat and Maurice enjoyed a first date beginning with Mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, a Padre game at old Lane Field and dinner at the U.S. Grant Hotel. The city gal kept her midwestern pilot in town and they were married at the Chapel on North Island July 19th, 1947. After a move, Dad began his law school studies and Mom was secretary to the Hall of Fame coach Don Faurot at the University of Missouri. Relocating to San Diego , Maurice began his law practice. The family settled in Fletcher Hills where they raised their seven children. Both devout Catholics, they were founding members of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Mom was a member of The Altar and Rosary Society and faithfully did the Sunday flowers for years. Mom was a member and past President of Father Joe’s Ladies of Charity Auxiliary. Pat was past president of Mercy Hospital’s Social Service Auxiliary. She received The Salvation Army’s Women of Dedication Award. She was also inducted as a Dame into The Order of the Holy Sepulchre. She also received The Bishop Maher Award for service to the Catholic community presented by Father Joe’s Villages. In her later years Mom donated her time at Father Joe’s Village Thrift Stores and would also put together layette packages for poor Mothers who gave birth at Mercy Clinic. Mom was a world traveler, an avid reader and played bridge with her pals for many years. She also loved to bowl. She was a lifelong Padre fan and held season tickets way into her 80’s. Always a caregiver, she would take older friends to appointments and was always on the watch for people in need. Quiet and extremely devout , she had a wicked twinkle in her eyes and made our home a loving, lively and fun place to thrive. We would be called home for dinner with a large cowbell which the whole block could hear! We had a horse, a pony, chickens and freedom to run and roam with the 60 kids who all lived the Rippey Street childhood! Thank you Mother for your love, your bravery in losing your beloved son Mark and your 34 years without Dad. Thank you for your example of faith and for your loving care of all of us. You are home now, your journey complete. Ninety two years of love, faith and joy. Job well done Mother Dear, you are forever in our hearts. LOVE YOU AND ADORE YOU! Your Devoted Family Funeral Mass to be held at 1:00 P.M., FRIDAY OCTOBER 27 at OUR LADY OF GRACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2766 Navajo Road, El Cajon 92020 RECEPTION TO FOLLOW in the Church Hall In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to SHARP HOSPICE HOUSE https://give.sharp.com
