Roberts, Norman J., 74, of Madeira Beach Florida, passed away on Sunday October 23, 2016 at the Suncoast Hospice in Pinellas Park after a long-term challenge with heart disease. He was born in Lawrence Massachusetts on 21 June, 1942, to the former Helen Babish and Norman E. Roberts, who was serving in the United States Army in the Pacific during World War II. Norman was raised in North Andover, Massachusetts, a graduate of North Andover High School and he served in the United States Navy for three years; a veteran member of the USS Essex during the naval blockade of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Norman has been a resident of the Madeira Beach Yacht Club since 1997 after retiring from the Lawrence Police Department in Massachusetts after 20 years of service. Subsequent to retiring from the Police Department, Norman became an enrolled agent for the Internal Revenue Service and he worked for H & R Block for 17 years, serving clients in both Massachusetts and Florida. Norman leaves his wife of 51 years, Anita; two sons, Michael and Brian; Michael's wife Jodi and their children, Norman's only two grandchildren, Andrew and Ashleigh. Norman is also survived by his older sister Norma, who resides in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Additionally, Norman has a litany of nieces, nephews and friends in Massachusetts and in Florida and he has been an involved member of the American Legion Post 273 in Madeira Beach since 1997. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Suncoast Hospice or an Alzheimer's Charity.
