REESE, VIRGINIA ELIZABETH, 95 years of St. Petersburg, went to be with her Lord on January 5, 2010. She was born on July 18, 1914 in Bristol, TN and came to St .Petersburg with her family in 1923. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1932. She became a member of First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg as a young woman, then later a charter member of the Azalea Baptist Church Lydia Class and a member of Seminole First Baptist Church. Virginia was a member of the Big Bayou Yacht Club in the 40's where she competed in many small sail craft races in wooden boats built by her husband, who also raced. For 33 years she was a member of St. Petersburg Garden Club, and served 13 years as a member of the City of St. Petersburg City Beautiful Committee. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest J. Reese, Sr., a building contractor with whom she worked for many years. They were builders of many fine custom homes and churches in the Pinellas County area. She is survived by two sons, E. James Reese, Jr. Barbara and Thomas W. Reese, a daughter, Julie Elizabeth Keith Bill, two grandsons, two granddaughters, and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at the E. James Reese Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chuck Englehardt officiating. Interment will follow at the Pioneer Seminole Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to Azalea Baptist Church.
