WINTER HAVEN - Mary Jo Morrow Whittington, 84, of Winter Haven passed away, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Hospice residence Center in Auburndale due to pneumonia. Born October 18, 1927 to Fred and Abbie Morrow of Jacksonville, Florida. Mary Jo graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville. Mary Jo married Willis Arling Whittington of Haines City, Florida on June 6, 1948. They have two children, Nancy Whittington Pechart and Jay Willis Whittington. Nancy is married to Rodney Pechart and Jay is married to Tonya Whittington and they have one daughter, Andrea Jay Whittington. Mary Jo pursued her education after her children were older and received her Bachelor's degree in General Studies from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida in 1973. She was a teacher in the Migrant Pre-School program when she was honored as one of the Outstanding Teacher's state wide. Mary Jo also taught at Lake Alfred Elementary and retired after 15 years with the Polk County School Board. Mary Jo is a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended the Faith Sunday School Class. She is survived by her immediate family, her brother, Fred Morrow, many nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2101 Overlook Drive, SE, Winter Haven. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am with Rev. Tim Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make Memorial Donations in her name to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823.
