Tribute 

Julio Soto Recio, 89, of Longmont, Colorado passed away after a lengthy battle with dementia on April 18, 2022. 

Julio Soto Recio was born to Juan Francisco Soto Gandara and Eulalia Recio Quinonez on January 26, 1933 in Francisco I. Madero, Durango, Mexico. Julio was the oldest of nine children. When he was a teen, he liked to go to the movie theater and liked to box, especially when it came to matters of the heart. 

In his late teens, Julio met Teresa Lopez Hernandez. They fell in love at the tender ages of 20 and 19. Julio and Teresa started their family, respectively, complete with their children, Juan Francisco Soto Lopez, María Mercedes Soto Lopez, Julio Soto Lopez, Jose Gerardo Soto Lopez, Eleazar Samuel Soto Lopez, Maria Teresa Soto Lopez, Tarsicio Soto Lopez, Jose Jesus Soto Lopez, and Noe Soto Lopez. Being a strong and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Julio and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving and supporting his family. 

In addition to his siblings, Jesus Soto Recio, Manuel Soto Recio, Pedro Soto Recio, Geronimo Soto Recio, Enriqueta Soto Recio, Aurora Soto Recio, Julio is survived by his children, Maria Mercedes, Julio, Jose Gerardo, Eleazar Samuel, Maria Teresa, Tarsicio, & Jose Jesus, his sons-in-law, Clemente Guereca and Miguel Ramirez and his daughters-in-law, Lydia Soto, Rocio Villalobos de Soto, Florina Ramirez de Soto, Almadelia Juárez de Soto, Maria Esther Garcia de Soto, Agueda Solórzano de Soto and his grandchildren, Teresa Soto-Zubia, Kimberly Garcia, Melisa Saenz, Yvette Loya, Berenice Guereca, Xochilt Hernandez, Aymee Renteria, Clemente Guereca, Julio Said Soto, Husuel Soto, Diana Soto, Hugo Soto, Denise Soto, Nicole Soto, Joselyn Soto, Allison Soto, Ruth Soto, Alvaro Soto, Alcira Daniela Soto, Samuel Soto, Fernanda Soto, Tanya Cervantes, Michael Ramirez, America Ramirez, Larissa Soto Garcia, Ana Karen Soto Garcia, Diego Soto Garcia, Andrea Soto Garcia, Jesus Emmanuel Soto, Luis Fernando Soto, Jhaciel Soto, Noe Soto, Oziel Soto, Esmeralda Soto and his great grandchildren, Francisco Zubia Jr., Isaiah Zubia, Zayden Zubia, Samuel Garcia, Suhailey Garcia, Kamila Garcia, Luz María Solorzano, Daniel Solorzano, Pedro Saenz Jr., Emiliano Saenz, Layla Loya, Adan Loya, Adrian Loya, Luis Medina, Andres Saenz, Camila Saenz, Edgar Vazquez Guereca, Xitlali Giron, Ximena Giron, Xiadani Hernandez, Iker Hernandez, Liam Hernandez, Aiden Renteria, Ameyali Renteria, Arlet Renteria, Daniel Clemente Guereca, Adiel Clemente Guereca, Viviana Soto, Mateo Soto, Marco Antonio Soto, Damian Rios Soto, Giovanni Cervantes, Montserrat Cervantes, Adalina Cervantes, Kimberly Ramirez, Liliana Ramirez, Romeo Reyes, Valente Reyes, Aziel Reyes, Noelia Soto, Elisa Marie Soto, & Julio Noe Soto and his great great grandchild Zendaya Zubia. 

Julio was preceded in passing by his late wife, Teresa Lopez de Soto, his sons, Juan Francisco Soto Lopez & Noe Soto Lopez, his grandchildren, Brenda Alejandra Soto & Angel Vasquez, his siblings, Ramon Soto Recio & Josefina Soto Recio and his parents Juan Francisco Soto Gandara & Eulalia Recio Quinoñez. 

Above all else, Julio was a noble man of honor and cared for his family even when his dementia was so advanced that he no longer recognized a majority of his children and grandchildren. Julio’s love for his wife of almost 70 years never waivered through his battle with dementia. On Easter Sunday 2022, a day before his final day, he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he adored more than anything else in the world.

Julio Soto Recio nació de Juan Francisco Soto Gandara y Eulalia Recio Quinonez el 26 de enero de 1933 en Francisco I. Madero, Durango, México. Julio era el mayor de nueve hermanos. Cuando era adolescente, le gustaba ir al cine y era boxeador, especialmente en casos de amor. 

En su adolescencia, Julio conoció a Teresa López Hernández. Se enamoraron y a los 20 y 19 años, Julio y Teresa formaron su familia con sus hijos, Juan Francisco Soto López, María Mercedes Soto López, Julio Soto López, José Gerardo Soto López, Eleazar Samuel Soto López, María Teresa Soto López, Tarsicio Soto López, José Jesús Soto López, y Noé Soto López. Ser un padre fuerte y confiable era de suma importancia para Julio y ciertamente no defraudó cuando se trataba de amar y apoyar a su familia de todo corazón.

Julio fue precedido en el paso por su difunta esposa, Teresa Lopez de Soto, sus hijos, Juan Francisco Soto Lopez y Noe Soto Lopez, sus nietos, Brenda Alejandra Soto y Angel Vasquez, sus hermanos, Ramon Soto Recio y Josefina Soto Recio y sus padres Juan Francisco Soto Gándara y Eulalia Recio Quinoñez. 

Por encima de todo, Julio era un hombre noble y se preocupaba por su familia incluso cuando su demencia estaba tan avanzada que ya no reconocía a la mayoría de sus hijos y nietos. El amor de Julio por su esposa durante casi 70 años nunca cedió durante su batalla contra la demencia. El Domingo de Pascua de 2022, un día antes de su último día, estuvo rodeado de sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos a quienes adoraba más que a nada en el mundo.
