Basil, James W., 94 of Land O’ Lakes passed away, Friday, August 3, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Alabama and raised in the Baptist faith. He moved to Florida in 1981. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a Staff Sergeant. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Jane and a son, Ted. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Josephine of Land O’ Lakes; his son, James “Billy” Kenneth Basil and wife Frances of MS; his daughter, Betty Lou Merritt of MS; several nieces and nephews and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Loyless Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 from 6 - 8 p.m.hn glover death datepsychology and lung cancer
