Abelardo Pena Ramos was born October 16, 1923 near Lima, Peru. After completing his basic schooling and pre-medical education, he moved to Argentina to attend medical school and performed his residency in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He subsequently completed a degree in Psychiatry. In 1967, he married Myrelle Nelida Begbeder. During 1969, they moved to the United States, initially settling in Kansas City, Missouri. A few years later, Abelardo moved his practice to Hannibal, Missouri, where he was the city's first Psychiatrist. After a number of years, the family relocated to Gainesville, Florida, near the University of Florida where Dr. Pena worked at the Veterans Hospital. Five years later, the Pena family moved to Tampa, Florida, where Abelardo taught at the University South Florida and worked at the Tampa VA Hospital. In 1990, the Pena's retired to Redington Shores, Florida. The couple had two children, Lee Pena and Tulio Pena. Abe died peacefully on March 28, 2017.
