McGhee, Earl J. Sr., 78, of St. Petersburg, Florida, died Friday, September 24, 2004 at Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg. Born in New Orleans, LA, he moved to Florida in 1989 from Chicago, IL. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and a Chicago Police Officer retiring as a Sergeant after 23 years of service. He also retired from the Chicago Transit Authority as Supervisor. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Pinellas Point Civic Association serving as Vice President, the N.O.B.L.E. National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives and a member of the Special Review of Operation of the St. Petersburg Police Department. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marcia M.; son and daughter-in-law, Earl McGhee, Jr. and daughter-in-law Mary Boivin-McGhee of Oak Park, IL; daughter, Charisse McGhee-Lazarou and son-in-law Michael Lazarou of West Lake Village, CA, his mother, Flossie Johnson McGhee of Oak Park, IL and grandchildren, Hassan Christopher, Heather McGhee, Shannon McGhee, Thayer Lazarou, Caitlin McGhee, Julian Lazarou, Myles Lazarou and Michaela Lazarou.
