Carroll, Sammy, Britton Sr., ?Captain Sam?, 69, died Wednesday May 30th at Hospice of Woodside. Born in Wake County, NC. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1955. He was a member of the Protestant and Methodist faith. He served 13 years at the St. Petersburg Fire Department retiring from service disability. He had many careers, a Boat Captain, Fire Fighter, and an EMT. Survivors include his wife of over 20 years Shirley; his daughter R. Lynne Pennington of Dade City; his sons Sammy B. Carroll Jr. of St. Petersburg; Michael Claude Carroll of Sarasota; his step-son Shane Wirt of Mishawka, Indiana; his step-daughter Shanda Wirt of Mishawaka, Indiana; his sister Rebecca C. Bennett of Garner, NC; his grandchildren Kati Pennington; Cloe Pennington; Trevor Carroll; Alexis Wirt; and Jonah Wirt.
