George C. Horne, 90, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of St. Petersburg, Florida, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at Hernando Pasco Care Center in Brooksville, Florida under the care of the Hernando Pasco Hospice. He was born in Cedar Key, Florida and moved to St. Petersburg in 1935 from Williston, Florida. He was a mechanical representative for the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad for 30 years and was a long time member of the Fifth Ave. Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a member of the Finance Committee. He served as a mission volunteer in Yemen, Korea, and Israel and returned to St. Petersburg in 1998 from Franklin, NC where he lived for eighteen years. While in Franklin he was a member of Franklin First Baptist where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Senior Adult Group and the Prime Timers. He moved to Spring Hill in 2002. He was an avid gardener. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Christine P.; one sister, Marguerite Mixson of Lake City, FL; one granddaughter, Rebecca, two great grandsons and three nieces.
