McDaniel, Robert "Bruce", Captain, USN Ret., 70, of St. Petersburg, passed away on May 26, 2008 at St. Anthony's Hospital. Born in Tampa, he grew up in St. Petersburg and graduated from Northeast High School. He received his Bachelor's degree in 1960 from Mercer University, GA and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Having served in the Vietnam War, Bruce retired as a Naval Captain in 1987. Bruce was a proud member of many civic and social organizations where he provided help and assistance to those in need throughout the region. Through a lifetime of selfless efforts his influence will live on in the many he touched. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne, of 38 years; mother, Wilma; uncle, Edward; son, Austin; three grandchildren; nephew, Chris; niece, Tabitha; cousin, Debbie; god-sons, Drew, Darrell and Mike; faithful companions, Spike and Duke as well as many close friends and family. A gathering of friends will be held on Monday, June 16th at 11 am with a memorial service at 1 pm at Anderson-McQueen Funeral & Cremation Center, 2201 Dr. M L King St. N. Inurnment will follow at Bay Pines National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Southeastern Guide Dogs, 4210 77th Street East, Palmetto, FL 34221 or contact www.guidedogs.org.
