Whalen, James J. 91, of St. Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born in Lockport, NY on November 3, 1917. He served in both WWII and the Korean War in the United States Army. James was a regional sales manager for Southeast American Tobacco and American Brands and retired in 1974. He was a member of Sunset Golf Club. James is survived by his wife, Marion Timberman Whalen; daughter, Ruth Heim; granddaughters, Rebecca Fast, Kimberly Kendall, Rachael Brewer, Elizabeth Heim, Tammy Heim all of Lockport, NY; grandsons, Matthew Whalen and Christopher Whalen of Largo; step-daughter, Nancy Gartrell of Rossville, TN; and step-granddaughter, Amanda Jean Koontz of Barnesville, Ohio. A gathering will begin at 6 PM with a memorial service at 7 PM on Thursday, April, 2, 2009 at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N.
