Joan "Hawkins" Marie England

Joan Marie (Hawkins) England, 84 of St. Petersburg, passed away November 21, 2016. She was born on July 2, 1932, to James P. and Elfleta (Jordan) Hawkins of Lorado, WV. Joan was married to Horace England for 29 years at the time of his death in 1985. Before moving to St. Petersburg, she made her home in Winston Salem, N. C., where she was a member of Old Town Baptist Church for 33 years. She was a member of the sanctuary choir, the "Triple L" [Living...Loving...Laughing] seniors group, and worked in the children's ministry. For several years she was a volunteer at the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association. Traveling, music and spending time with friends and family was what she enjoyed most. Those who knew her loved her sweet smile, humor and gentile spirit. She will be greatly missed by all. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers: Charles, Jim Ed, Carl, Orville; and sister Nina. She is survived by seven nieces and four nephews. Memorial services will be held at Suncoast Cathedral, St. Petersburg, FL on December 3 at 11:00 am. and Old Town Baptist Church on December 17 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park Cemetery, Winston Salem.
