Patricia Marie Kingery was born to Laurie and Tom Kingery on April 24th 1934 in Olympia, WA. Pat's family history tells us that her great grandfather was a circuit riding preacher spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ near and far. This firm faith in Christ continues to this day throughout the families' generations. Pat's grandparents Lelia Roberson Looney and Robert L. Looney were both born in Roanoke, Virginia and came by train to Olympia in 1903 & 1905 respectively. They were married on Christmas Day in 1906. They were charter members of the Church of the Brethren in Lacey. Robert was a logger and owned Olympia Wood Company. Lelia was a devoted wife and homemaker. Pat adored her grandmother. She had fond memories of riding in her grandpa's open cab logging truck. Patricia grew up attending the Church of the Brethren with her parents and older brother Tommy Lee Kingery. Her mother Laurie worked for the state and was on the board of nearly every club or group she attended. She was a wonderful cook and turned every family gathering into a feast. Their father worked for the school district and was a fabulous gardener whose gardens were the envy of the neighborhood, supplying the family with fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers in the summer and canned goods during the winter. Patricia and her older brother Tommy attended McKinley elementary school and Olympia High school, as did their mother and Pat's daughter. Tommy loved the Word of God and liked to copy long passages from the Bible in his beautiful hand writing. Pat loved the Lord and as a young lady attended a Four Square church on 4th Ave where her daughter and grandchildren would later attend when it became Calvary Chapel of Olympia. Pat traveled to Pamona, California to join her cousin for their senior year of high school. After graduating Pat went on to the Church of the Brethren College on the east coast and met and married Robert John Darst who was an art major at Yale University. They lived in New Haven Connecticut and were expecting their first child when Pat walked to the nearby hospital to give birth to their daughter Diana Lee Darst. The couple soon moved to Cleveland, Ohio where their second daughter Rosalee Kay Darst (aka Sally) was born. Later Pat returned to Olympia as a single parent with her daughters. Pat spent many years in devoted care of her younger daughter Rosalee as she had autism and needed one on one care until she passed on to be with the Lord in her late teens. Pat met and married a kind gentleman named James Huff and moved to California until he went to be with his Lord in heaven. Pat returned to Olympia once again. At the age of 50 Pat had become a grandmother to Isaiah Jacob Schubert and two years later, Joshua Jason Schubert. She also has a beautiful great grand daughter named Emily Ruth Schubert. Pat blessed each generation with holiday and birthday visits and gifts! She excelled as a card giver, always picking the perfect card. She loved dogs and seldom was seen without a small companion. Remembered are Peppy and Cuddles. In her last four years Pat was welcomed with open arms into the Golden Valley adult family home. Tina, Val, and their daughter Christine and their helpers, Candace, Jean & Jun, Libra, Mary Jewel and the family dog and loving companion Chloe poured love and tender care into Pats life. She was truly one of the family and enjoyed their grandchildren and delighted in their family celebrations that included lots of singing and and feasting. Pat loved attending church and going on outings with her daughter Diana and son in law Dave whom she always had a huge smile and welcoming greeting for! Pat prayed diligently for those around her and for her family. She blessed her family with a legacy of prayer and unconditional love. Pat loved Jesus and would talk of her longing to be home with the Lord. She held fast to her faith to the end and is truly "home" now. What joy fills her soul and her entire "new" body and being! God's mercy and kindness truly followed her all the days of her life. A celebration of Pat's life will be held: Saturday January 14th at 11:00am with lunch to follow. Calvary Chapel Olympia (In the High School Room). 919 Division Street NW, Olympia, WA 98502.
